crappy fishing
Posted by Al Lidner on Wednesday, 06-Jun-2007 at 12:46:35
A sanctuary was placed on the Ord Creek due to its declining walleye population. Dave, the owner of Manotak Lodge, disrespected the santuary (which he originally favored) and told his guest and guides to ignore the santuary and fish in it. He has a complete disrepect for the fisheries and Canadian people. The walleye fishing is getting worse every year!! Dave is the biggest fraud and ahole in business; he cares only about money and himself!

I just stumbled accross this posting 6/6/2007. I have been going to Manotak Lodge for 25 years. I always go opening week of walleye season and have also made many trips in August. I do not know where you are getting your information but you are not accurate and showing your ignorance. It is true that walleye size and numbers were declining in the early 1990s on Perrault Lake. The DNR adopted a fish sanctuary on Ord river above the old logging bridge since the walleye spawn up river another 2-3 miles. Below the bridge approximately 2 miles to the lake has always been legal to fish. These sanctions were and still are effective until June 1. At the same time they also declared Jackfish Bay a sanctuary until June 1 and have signs posted at this location as well. Dave Becker was not the owner of Manotak Lodge when this took effect. Since these sanctuaries have been in place, the fishing has been consistantly better every year. The size and quantities have reached unbelievable levels over the past 10 years. The sanctuary you are reffering to is located at the mouth of ORD River. It is my understanding that a hand full of lodge owners got together and agreed on a self impossed sanctuary extending from the mouth of ORD River. They made a hand painted sign and placed it to mark "THEIR" new sanctuary. It is also my understanding that Dave Becker was involved in these discussions and did not agree. Dave and Linda have owned Manotak for 8 years and have always stressed conservation. Since day 1, Dave has educated everyone of size limits, possesions and pushed conservation lisences. Dave demands everyone adhere to the slot limits of all fish and has lost customers because of this demand. No one cares more about the future of this fishery than Dave. Dave gets pissed if a fish is a fraction over limit and shows the propper way to measure. I have been a friend of Dave and Lindas for the past 8 years. I take great exception to the false statements you made. Of course you could have verified this information with Dave and saved yourself the embarasement of being a misinformed dumbass. Best Regards
